This 30-Minute Spicy Turkey Chili is the kind of recipe you can throw together very easily. It’s flexible, simple, and incredibly comforting. Get some ground turkey from the freezer (ground beef or ground chicken, whatever you have handy!), a can of black beans from the pantry, an onion from the shelf, lots of yummy spices, some canned tomatoes and salsa. Top each bowl of chili with plenty of cheddar cheese, fresh cilantro, and avocado too.

Ingredients
2 cups chicken broth
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1/2 yellow onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2–3 jalapenos, minced (remove ribs and seeds if you don’t want it to be spicy)
1 pound ground turkey
1 (14-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 bay leaf
2 (14 ounce) cans crushed fire roasted tomatoes
Sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions, tortilla chips, for topping
Instructions
Heat the oil over high heat in a large heavy pot and add the turkey meat. Cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes, chopping down and stirring with the side of a heavy kitchen spoon to break up any lumps.
Add the onions, garlic, jalapeño, oregano, bay leaves, paprika, chili powder and cumin. Stir to blend well. Cook for 5 minutes.
Add the tomatoes, chicken broth, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes.
Add the drained beans and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes longer.
Ladle into bowls, serve with cheddar cheese, green onions, sour cream, lime wedges, tortilla chips, avocado, whatever you desire. Enjoy!
